It’s a week since Jaguar revealed what instantly became the sensation of the Paris Motor Show – the Jaguar C-X75 Concept. Which, considering the C-X75 is not just a stunning-looking hypercar concept but that it also had a great big green halo and enormous power and performance, it’s not exactly a shock it became an instant star. Meet the new Range Rover long-wheelbase, which Land Rover is aiming squarely at the elongated versions of its luxury saloon rivals, like the Mercedes S-class, Audi A8, and Jaguar XJ. On sale in the UK in March 2014, the Range Rover long-wheelbase is expected to cost around £140,000 – twice the price of an entry-level Rangie, and £40k more than its short wheelbase specification equivalent, the top-spec Autobiography.
Michelin has announced the theme for the 2014 Michelin Challenge Design competition – ‘Driven/Undriven: The Duality of Tomorrow's Automobiles'. Participants will explore the human-to-vehicle connection, focusing on how this can evolve automotive design. The exploration of autonomous vehicles has gathered pace in recent years, with Toyota displaying its autonomous Lexus car at the recent CES in Las Vegas, while other carmakers and even Google have been investing heavily in the concept.
